If not for my wife’s prodding, I wouldn’t spend a centavo watching Kimmy Dora. I have nothing against Filipino movies but I haven’t seen one for quite a long time and I thought lahat ng plots ng Philippine movies are almost the same, pinalitan lang ang mga characters. And with prices of movie tickets now reaching as high as P250, I guessed it would be best if we watch quality movies.
I am not a professional film critic. I just want to share my observations about this movie. Kimmy Dora is the first movie of Eugene Domingo na sya talaga ang bida. In the past kasi, sidekick lang sya ng mga comedians like Ai-Ai delas Alas and others. And I believe it’s about time Eugene gets her lead-star role.
Pagpasok palang namin sa SM Cinema I was already surprised at the number of people. The theater was crowded. Kimmy Dora is PG13 but I can see kids inside. In fact, I was able to get my 4-year-old son inside too. And there was a good mix of crowd class. May mga professional looking, may mga mukhang hindi masyadong professional looking
.
Kimmy Dora is a movie about twin sisters na anak ng mayamang may-ari ng multinational company. Of course, Eugene plays both characters – Kimmy (maarte, smart, at masama ang ugali) and Dora (medyo kulang-kulang, mabait, at super cute hehehehe). Camera tricks and optical illusions played a lot in this movie and I can say those behind it have done their job pretty well.
Halos lahat ng scene ay may tawanan. And it’s not corny ha. Eugene is a natural comedian I should say. And she can also be a good dramatic artist, or a kontrabida. In short, she’s a versatile actress and I wonder bakit ngayon lang siya nabigyan ng much-needed break.
I also appreciate directory Joyce Bernal’s way of tickling the funny bones of the audience. Nakakatuwa ang mga eksena (or maybe masyado lang mababaw ang kaligayahan ko). Never a scene na boring.
I won’t go into details here para hindi ma spoil yung mga hindi pa nakakawatch ng movie. All I can say is you better watch Kimmy Dora if you want a good laugh and a value for your money.
